Corduroy

Due to peer pressure from MJ's mom (aka Carrie) I'm coming back to blogger, now I've got to move all my Journey To Me stuff back, and I've changed the color and template. I've kidded her when she commented to me that I needed to do something to my blog, and replied "yea, in cyber world your friends can't see you as much so they can't tell you you need a new hair do or outfit, they just say "your blog needs a new look". So, Carrie, I hope I am "up to speed" now!

We have had one kid in the house since Sunday afternoon. The grandparents took Sarah and Gary to TN for the week. This has been the first time they've been away by themselves with grandparents. I started to really miss them today. Timmy told us yesterday that after we tucked him in that he cried quietly that night because he missed Gary. He has really bonded well to Gary and follows him almost everywhere. We are working on moving Timmy to his own room here within the month before school starts.

Well, I chose a book to read with Timmy tonight before bedtime. I chose one of Sarah's favorites when she was a toddler...Corduroy. If you haven't read the book, get it. I didn't even think about how Corduroy is similar to Timmy's life in China until we were reading it. Especially when I read the part about he didn't look new and he'd lost a button on his clothes. (I immediately thought older child and special need adoption)

When it gets to the line, I'm Lisa and you're going to be my very own bear", Timmy said "that's not fair". We had just been discussing how he was told he was coming to America before we read tonight, so I am thinking "oh no, he didn't think Corduroy should leave the department store to go home with Lisa". But he said it wasn't fair, he wanted Corduroy!

I won't give the story away, so for those who haven't read it, get a copy and read it to your children.
