Yesterday we went to the pool at the country club. The picture of Timmy jumping off the diving board is special to me.
Last September when we first found out about Timmy, we prayed for a couple of days about whether or not to move forward to pursue his adoption. Sarah had her friends over to this same pool for a birthday party as it was her birthday and we went there after school.
The girls were jumping off the same diving board as you see here in the pic that Timmy is jumping off of, and one of the girls didn't want to jump as she was too fearful. The other girls were trying to coax her into it and telling her it's ok, she'll have fun, "Come on Jump!". At that very moment, I felt God, not audibly, speak to me and say "it's ok jump in, I am here to help you". Well, we jumped in and here we are today almost one year later and our new son is now jumping off the same board. One thing I've learned about Timmy, he's a brave boy!
Last week we got together with Jill and John Liang. John is from the same orphanage as Timmy, and he's been home about a month now. This week Jill invited us to go ice skating. I've never been before. On the way up I realized that we were not dressed for the ice and I called her hoping she hadn't left her house yet. Not to worry, she brought the boys long pants, shirts, and some gloves to wear. The boys did well for their first time. I know how to roller skate, but I must say ice skating is harder!
We went to get a bite to eat and went over to Jill's house. I was impressed with her butterfly garden in her back yard! We were waiting for the rain to clear so the boys could go swimming but it didn't happen.
Last week I posted that Timmy did not speak to John Liang in Chinese and this week I was hoping he could speak some to him. Jill asked him to explain to John Liang that he was only playing with his toy for a few minutes and would not take it home. Timmy told this to him in English and then said " I cannot speak Chinese". While we were out to eat Jill referred to John Liang as "di di". To our surprise, Timmy said " what is "di di". It means little brother in Chinese.
After we got back home and ate supper, we went bike riding as a family tonight. It had been awhile since Timmy had rode the bike, and he didn't know how to ride when we met him. He now rides without training wheels and does well. He told me on the way back home, "Mommy I am proud of you, you are best mommy". Two months ago he would not acknowledge that I was his mom, he had a foster mom and also a favorite nanny he was close to, so this is most definitely a moment to cherish!
